Frequently Asked Questions

On this page, you can find a collection of frequently asked questions. You may use the search box below to search for a specific question.

Registration

You must register for every course and the associated examination via HohCampus.

The courses that are part of the AIDAHO program can either be taken curricularly (e.g. in the profile subject or the optional subject) or, if this is not possible, in the supplementary section of your account as ‘extra-curricular activities’. This is always the case if a course is not included in your curriculum.

By clicking on "Show structure" and searching for the module title in HohCampus, you will find the course examination for registration. When searching for a module, please ensure that you do not include a number but rather the title of the course or individual words from the title.

This is not the case for the basic modules. Here, the contents of the lectures are made available online by the individual lecturers for individual study. Nevertheless, we strongly recommend attending all on-site and online sessions.

Registration on F.I.T. is important for us, as we use it to plan the capacities of our lectures and manage the certificate.

For the specialisation modules, please note the details of the responsible lecturers, which can be found on HohCampus or the institute websites.

The registration is possible for all students at the University of Hohenheim. Hence, the main condition is a current enrollment at the university. The registration to the modules in the program is only possible if students are enrolled at the time of registration. This also applies for students who graduated before completing the AIDAHO program as well as students who transferred to another university.

Basic knowledge in mathematics and statistics should be acquired beforehand. Hence, we strongly recommend to not begin with the program before the third semester.

In particular, AIDAHO is suitable for the master’s students of the faculties A and N and for the bachelor’s students of the faculty W. PhD students can register for the program if they are enrolled. A participation of employees of the University of Hohenheim, as well as externals is currently not possible (See the question “Is it possible for externals to participate in the AIDAHO program?”).

The F.I.T. platform lists all further education courses at Hohenheim University. The AIDAHO programm uses the platform for the administration of the participants and courses.

The following document contains instructions how to register for courses on the F.I.T. platform:

FIT-Anmeldung
(german)

Please use your Hohenheim user account to log into the F.I.T.-platform (don't use external email adresses!).

The registration will be activated in september, before the start of the winter semester 22/23.

Individual curriculum

AIDAHO cooperation modules (usually part-time work or internships offered within the AIDAHO program) do not have a graded examination component. At the end of the semester, a report of the activities carried out during the cooperation module is required. This report is important for passing and obtaining a participation certificate for the AIDAHO cooperation module. If you have successfully completed the AIDAHO cooperation module, you will not only receive a participation certificate, but you may also be able to have it credited within a portfolio module.

AIDAHO modules can be selected in the elective area, profile area, specialization area, or as an additional module if they are part of the respective study programs (listed in the study plan/course planner). You will then decide during the exam registration whether you want to register the module as an elective, elective compulsory, profile, specialization or additional module.

If an AIDAHO module is not included in your study plan, it is possible to register the module in the additional account as an "extra-curricular module" or, if applicable, as a portfolio module. Information on how to credit a performance in the portfolio module can be found in the module catalog.

For all AIDAHO modules, you will receive a participation certificate. You can download it independently in the FIT platform or receive it upon request.

If you have questions about the eligibility of AIDAHO modules, please contact the examination office. The AIDAHO team cannot provide binding answers to these questions.

In the specialization modules, courses, which are not included by the AIDAHO program overview, can be accredited if they  have overlapping contents to the modules of the program. Therefore, students must send the crediting form, as well as a verification of the completed module to aidaho@uni-hohenheim.de. Every accrediting request will be checked individually by an AIDAHO staff member.

In addition, the specialization area offers the opportunity to accredit project works, seminar papers or theses as an “Application Modul”. In addition to a similar content, there also needs to be a sufficient practical application of the topic. For the accrediting process, the crediting form and a copy of the work has to be submitted.

Furthermore, modules that have been completed and are deemed fitting for the AIDAHO certificate can also be accredited using the crediting form and talk to the AIDAHO staff.

Students that have already successfully completed the modules “Introduction to Machine Learning with Python” or “Introduction to Data Science with R and RStudio” are allowed to credit these. Therefore, students have to send the crediting form, as well as a verification for the completed module to aidaho@uni-hohenheim.de.

The module “Tools for AI & Data Science” has to be absolved by all participants ofthe program. It is not possible to substitute this module.

It is also possible to accredit the modules “Introduction to Machine Learning with Python” and “Introduction to Data Science with R and RStudio” through other modules that are to a large part similar and have overlapping contents. A possible accrediting will then be individually checked by an AIDAHO staff member. The crediting form and a verification of the completed module have to be sent to aidaho@uni-hohenheim.de.

Furthermore, modules that have been completed before the winter semester 2022/23 can also be accredited using the crediting form.

The scheduling and realization of the modules is left up to the responsible lecturers. For the individual curriculum of the students it is important to consider that some modules might only be offered in the winter or summer term.

Even if the aim is to not complete the full AIDAHO program, there is still the possibility to take at least some modules. For each of these successfully completed modules, students receive a participation certificate which is created through the F.I.T. platform.

Contents

To receive the certificate, the three basic modules need to be passed. Further, two specializing modules have to be successfully completed, of which at least one has to be an “Application Module”.

The examination and grading are held according to the regular examination modalities. If the module is merely for the AIDAHO certificate, the module only has to be passed. In this case, students will not receive a grade for the course.

We are currently in close contact to different companies. As soon as it is determined which courses can be offered in cooperation with external partners, they will be published on our website and in our newsletter.

All basic modues will be lectured in english. For the specializing modules, there will be courses in englisch and german.

The courses will be hold online or in presence, depending on the respective course and current pandemic situation. For specific questions, please contact the corresponding lecturer.

The AIDAHO program overview (under construction) offers an overview of the basic modules. The contents of the courses in the specialization modules can be found on HohCampus.

Other

Currently, the participation of externals is not intended. So far, it remains unclear whether externals might be given the chance to participate at a later point in time. However, we will keep an eye on this aspect and communicate possible changes in our newsletter and on our website.

For questions to the structure of the certificate and accrediting of your modules, you can send an email to aidaho@uni-hohenheim.de.

In case of questions to the contents of the courses, please contact the corresponding lecturer.

Questions about the accrediting of AIDAHO modules for your own degree program (e.g. as elective module) should be sent to the corresponding study coordination office.

To optimally benefit from the modules, it is recommended to have prior knowledge in mathematics and statistics. However, knowledge in programming, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science is not required.

All software and tools will be made available by the lecturer.

No, the complete AIDAHO progarmm will be free for enrolled students at the University of Hohenheim.
