Inspiring perspectives on data and journalism: The AIDAHO Lecture and certificate award ceremony [11.04.25]
Last Friday, data journalist Dr. Jan Georg Plavec spoke about the use of AI in journalism as part of the AIDAHO program and explained why data-based reporting is becoming increasingly important.
In his insightful presentation on Friday, Dr. Plavec talked about the connections between AI, data science and journalism. He emphasized that data journalism is becoming increasingly relevant for providing fact-based reporting, visualizing complex figures and making them understandable for a broad audience. The job of journalism is therefore to recognize the story behind the data and make it visible.
Currently, Dr. Jan Georg Plavec is the Senior Editor for Data Journalism and Digital Projects at Stuttgarter Zeitung and Stuttgarter Nachrichten. His projects have received multiple awards and he is the founder of the data journalism network ddjbw. Thanks to this background, he has extensive knowledge on the topic and was able to provide interesting first-hand insights.
After the lecture, the new graduates of the AIDAHO program were ceremoniously awarded their certificates.
On behalf of the entire project team, we would like to congratulate the students on this award and wish them great success and all the best for the future.
The AIDAHO Lecture takes place every semester and complements the course program with lectures by experts from disciplines such as law, ethics, and sustainability. Participants have the opportunity to gain comprehensive knowledge and make valuable connections for their future careers.
