AIDAHO at the Young European Parliament in Göppingen  [30.10.25]

On October 28, trainees and students had the opportunity to step into the shoes of an EU parliamentarian as part of the 14th EU Trainee Summit. The AIDAHO team contributed its expertise to the topic of the simulation, the EU AI Act.

The simulation is organized by the Young European Federalists (JEF) and gives participants the opportunity to experience the workings of the EU Parliament for themselves. To do this, they take on the role of members of parliament and negotiate laws in political groups, committees, and in plenary sessions.

This time, the topic was AI – more specifically, the EU AI Act. This was passed by the European Union (EU) in 2024 and is one of the first comprehensive regulations on artificial intelligence (AI) worldwide.

Support for the preparation was provided by the University of Hohenheim, specifically the AIDAHO team (AI & Data Science Certificate Hohenheim), which contributed its expertise in the field of AI to the content of the simulation.

Tobias Schrimpf, project coordinator at AIDAHO, began with a thematic introduction to AI, how it works, and its potential opportunities and risks. The participants were then asked to negotiate their positions on the law. At the end, a small EU AI Act of their own was passed.

The AIDAHO team would like to thank JEF and the Landratsamt Göppingen for the invitation and the participants for their great commitment!
